Historic Freemasonry in Ashby-de-la-Zouch
the HISTORY

Learn about Freemasonry

Freemasonry is one of the oldest secular social and charitable organisations in the world, modern Freemasonry’s roots lie in the traditions of medieval stonemasons who built our castles and cathedrals.

We are one of the largest charitable givers in the country, contributing £51.7m to deserving causes in 2023. Freemasons are taught to look after those less fortunate than themselves, charity is our lifeblood and many members devote their time and energy to helping those less fortunate than themselves.

We also have a huge amount of enjoyment along the way, we eat, drink and meet together and form lifelong friendships.

Ashby Lodges

Nº.779

Ferrers & Ivanhoe

Ferrers & Ivanhoe Lodge No. 779 has been part of the Ashby-de-la-Zouch community since 1859, with a proud history of brotherhood and local service. Today, alongside our sister Lodge Hastings No. 8695, we continue that tradition from our Masonic Hall in Lower Church Street. We'd love to welcome you.

Nº.8695

Hastings Lodge

Hastings Lodge No. 8695 was founded with a proud ethos of brotherhood and hard work, nowhere more evident than when our members spent countless weekends helping to transform a former school and cinema on Lower Church Street into the Masonic Hall we use today. Consecrated in 1981, it remains a testament to what this Lodge can achieve together.
