Last updated: 23rd October 2026
This policy explains how the Freemasons of Ashby-de-la-Zouch collect and use your personal information when you visit this website or send us an enquiry. We take your privacy seriously and only use your information to respond to you and run our Lodges.
Who we are
This website is run on behalf of two Masonic Lodges. They meet at the Masonic Hall, 17 Lower Church Street, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, LE65 1AB. Each Lodge is the data controller for the enquiries sent to it.

Hastings Lodge No. 8695

The other Masonic orders listed on this site (such as the Royal Arch, Mark and Knights Templar) are handled by their own Secretaries, Scribes, Recorders or Registrars. If you email one of them directly, they will handle your information in line with this policy.
What information we collect
When you fill in a membership enquiry form, we collect:
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Anything you choose to tell us in the "Any Questions?" box
When you browse the website, our website platform also collects basic technical information. This includes your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. Please see our Cookie Policy for more details.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Please do not ask us anything about your health, religion or politics through the form. You don't need to share these details to make an enquiry.
How we use your information
We use your details to:
- Reply to your enquiry and answer your questions
- Invite you to meet members of the Lodge, if you'd like to
- Guide you through the steps to becoming a Freemason, if you decide to go ahead
- Keep the website secure and working properly
We will never sell your information or use it for marketing that you have not asked for.
Our lawful basis
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we must have a lawful reason to use your information.
- Consent: you tick the box on our form to agree to us contacting you about your enquiry. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: we have a genuine interest in responding to people who contact us and in keeping our website running safely.
Who we share it with
We only share your information where we need to:
- Between the two Lodges: if your enquiry is better suited to the other Lodge, we may pass it on.
- Our website providers: the site is built and hosted on the Duda platform and managed by Kangaroo UK. They process data on our behalf and must keep it secure.
- If you become a member: your details will be registered with the United Grand Lodge of England and the Provincial Grand Lodge of Leicestershire & Rutland. Their own privacy notices will then apply.
- Where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
If your enquiry does not lead to membership, we delete your details within 12 months of our last contact with you. If you become a member, your information is kept as part of the Lodge's membership records.
Keeping your information safe
The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Lodge Secretaries keep enquiry details in password-protected email accounts and only share them with members who need to see them.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your information
- Object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Ask us to move your information to another organisation
To use any of these rights, email the Secretary of the Lodge you contacted. We will reply within one month. There is no charge.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
